Summary
The Classroom Ready Academy is a short-term, intensive training designed to prepare individuals to be classroom ready for employment in early childhood education settings. Students will gain hands-on experience with CPR and First Aid, complete required health and safety trainings relevant to early childhood environments, as well as ITS-SIDS (Infant and Toddler Safe Sleep and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), playground safety, and fire safety. This Academy provides foundational training aligned with Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) requirements and prepares participants to meet entry-level expectations for early childhood professionals. Students will also receive certification support and guidance in completing the required NCDHHS criminal background checks and fingerprinting, which are necessary for employment and participation in early childhood classrooms.
The Academy includes five required in-person meeting dates on campus. The remaining coursework and assignments will be completed online to support flexible learning.

This course has no prerequisites or requirements.
Completion & Credential Pathway
Upon successful completion of the Classroom Ready Academy, students will be prepared to begin EDU 119: Introduction to Early Childhood Education, which starts in March immediately following the Academy. In addition, students will be eligible to receive the North Carolina Early Childhood Credential through DCDEE, supporting employment and professional advancement in early childhood education settings.
